Export and Move Projects
A .gjproject is a complete project package for moving between devices, backing up, or sharing practice material. It contains the current media, clips, notes, beats, and audio settings, and can include stems.
Export a Project Package
Save the current project first, then open Export → Project. The browser export interface shows the project package option directly.
You can check the estimated size before exporting. Include separated tracks usually increases the size considerably, but lets the receiving device use those results without separating again.
If the receiving device is a browser and you need stem mixing, leave this switch on: browsers cannot perform separation themselves.
The app uses the system share sheet to save or send the export; the browser downloads the project file.
Import on Another Device
Select the .gjproject file as you would ordinary media. In a browser, you can also drag it into the window. Once imported, the project enters the local library.
The app's LAN Transfer also accepts project packages. Compatible extensions can open projects directly from the transfer webpage; see Using the Transfer Webpage.
After transfer, the projects on the two devices are edited independently and do not sync automatically. To update the other device, save and export again.
Files Inside the Package
The package uses ZIP format. You can unzip it to inspect the media, project data, stems directory, and manifest. The media is the file currently used by the project: trimming, compression, or video removal is reflected in the package.
The internal structure and format may change between versions. To edit practice content, use the app or browser and export again rather than manually changing package data.
Common Questions
No stems after importing. Check whether stems were included when exporting. The app can separate again; a browser needs another package exported from the app with stems included.
I only want someone to listen. Use the app's audio/video export; the recipient does not need GrooveJog. Project packages are for continued editing and practice.
The package is too large. Omit stems if you do not need them. If you need the full practice state, choose a suitable transfer method rather than deleting content you need.
