Lock Screen and Background Playback

Phone and tablet apps can continue audio playback when locked or after switching to another app, with controls on the system lock screen or Control Center. Loops and the metronome continue with the audio.

App Lock Screen Controls

The lock screen shows the current project information and Play/Pause. By default, the side buttons seek backward 5 seconds and forward 15 seconds. They can also switch clips or adjust speed; see Customize Lock Screen Buttons.

Playlists use their own lock screen button settings.

Operations That Need the Foreground

Complete long tasks such as importing, model processing, and instrument separation in the foreground. The system may pause background tasks. During separation, the app keeps the screen awake; tap to restore it after temporary dimming.

Video decoding may pause while locked, while audio continues. If the picture does not update on return, try pausing and playing again or seeking.

Browser Version

The browser and system determine background tab, sleep, and lock screen behavior; it cannot be guaranteed to match the app. For long, continuous background playback, use the phone or tablet app.

Playback Stops Unexpectedly

Check for calls, another app taking audio focus, disconnected output devices, or system background restrictions. See Sound and Bluetooth.
